All tenants are required to carry renter’s insurance on the contents of their unit. Self Storage Zone makes sure our tenants have access to top quality insurance by offering them coverage from the Storage Business Owner’s Alliance (SBOA).
Not only will the customer receive quality coverage; they will have complete access to the SBOA Insurance knowledgeable claims representatives and prompt handling of any claims. Some customers prefer to use their existing Homeowner Policy or Renters policy when applicable. Our helpful on-site managers will be happy to assist you in decided what insurance coverage amount is right for your storage needs. Coverage in amounts up to $5,000.00 are available and are will be included in your monthly rent payment. Some advantages of the SBOA program compared to a normal homeowner’s policy are:
- $0 Deductible
- Coverage for Goods While in Transit
- Items are Covered for Full Replacement Value
- Limited Vermin Coverage
Coverage through the SBOA program is primary so it kicks in first before any other plan does. Many of our customers like having this separate policy as a claim will not impact existing plans they may have. It is not mandatory to purchase your required insurance coverage through the SBOA; however tenants with alternate forms of coverage are encouraged to check with their current provider to see if self-storage is included on their homeowner's policy or any other policy they may have. If you do have alternate coverage, simply advise the manager that you wish to decline the coverage at the time of rental. We ask that you provide us with a copy of the declarations page of your policy for our files.

Once it has been submitted, our site manager will work with the SBOATI to process your claim in a timely manner.
It is important to remember that the policy is subject to cancelation should rent become delinquent for a period of 30 days or more.
